Our staff

The goal of our staff and leadership team is to be a “Great Commission Church” with a heart that lifts up Jesus to our community and among the nations.

SENIOR PASTOR
Bradley Johnson

Bradley serves as Senior Pastor of Newfound Baptist Church. He was raised in a Christian home and trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at age twelve. After graduating high school, he worked in the family agriculture business until the Lord redirected his path. In 2002 Bradley married Kelly, and the Lord has blessed them with four children. The Johnsons are grateful to live in the NC mountains, and they enjoy spending time together doing anything outdoors.

Bradley has served churches in Taylorsville and Youngsville, NC, until arriving at Newfound in the spring of 2019. He is a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible College  and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

If you have any questions about ministry at Newfound Baptist Church or becoming a member, please reach out to Pastor Bradley at pastorbradley@newfoundbaptist.com.

Deborah grew up in a Christian home, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized in her home church of First Baptist, Bryson City around the age of nine.  At an even earlier age, she would listen in church to the choir anthem, come home, and would play it by ear well enough for her family to recognize what she was playing.  Thus began her love of church music.

Deborah earned her BS degree in music education from WCU during which time she accompanied the University Chorus and was organist at Cullowhee Baptist on campus.  While working toward her master’s degree, and with a graduate assistantship, she taught group piano classes to non-piano music majors needing to pass the piano proficiency exam.  During the next several years, the Lord led her to further her education by attending summer music workshops primarily at Westminster Choir College and the University of SC, pertinent to her teaching areas.

Past teaching positions have been at Ben Lippen Christian Boarding School where she directed auditioned, touring choral groups, a handbell choir, and taught piano.  At Cherokee Elementary, she expanded their music program to include classroom choruses, Orff instruments, and recorders.  Her auditioned school chorus frequently performed outside of the community, and Debbie received awards from both the Principal and the Cherokee School Board for her innovative teaching ideas and excellence achieved with the school chorus.

Past church music positions that followed Cullowhee Baptist were at First Baptist, Franklin, playing their beautiful Shantz pipe organ, and at West Asheville Baptist for 30 years where she was organist, music assistant, handbell director, children’s choir director, and taught daycare music classes.  Her past eleven years have been at Cornerstone Presbyterian, a PCA church where she was church pianist, director of the adult choir, and developed a delightful children’s choir and children’s handbell choir.

Deborah loves the friendly, enthusiastic folks at Newfound where she is currently church pianist as well as directs the adult choir and handbell choir.  She feels there is tremendous potential for further growth and expansion within Newfound’s music program and is excited to follow the Lord’s direction as He leads, guides, and directs to accomplish His purposes.  To God be the Glory!!
