At Newfound, we take the commission from Jesus to make disciples seriously. Our goal is not just attendance to a meeting, but a transformation of our lives as we follow the teachings of Jesus. We believe discipleship is lived out in the community as seen in Acts 2:42-47:

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.  And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those were were being saved.”

True discipleship involves more than learning; it means living a life marked by obedience to the way of life set forth in Scripture. The model of the early church in the New Testament demonstrates this small group community and Newfound lives out small group community through our discipleship classes such as Sunday school and other Bible studies to demonstrate:

  • Loving God as we learn and obey
  • Loving each other as Jesus loved us
  • Loving the World through missions and outreach

We want every member of our church to have this small community place in which to grow and follow Jesus.  In addition to our Sunday school, the Embrace Women’s Ministry offers Bible studies for women throughout the year that usually last about 6 weeks and occur on a weekday. These classes are advertised in our church publications throughout the year.
